Project description

The objectives of the proposal research are to: (1) investigate the effects of slag chemical and physical characteristics on sulfate durability of cementitious systems, and (2) establish limits on identified characteristics of slag cement to ensure durability of cementitious systems exposed to aggressive conditions during service life. Satisfying the objectives of this study will provide the the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) with the scientific knowledge needed to change specifications pertaining to slag-containing structural concrete mixtures to ensure a sustainable and durable infrastructure in the state of Florida.
