Project description

The primary objective of this project is to provide ALDOT with a procedure that can be used in girder design to more accurately predict girder camber prior to deck placement. Several secondary objectives necessary for achieving the primary objective are: establishing relationships between concrete modulus of elasticity & compressive strength at the time of prestress transfer for typical ALDOT girder concrete mixtures; identifying relationships between specified concrete strength & actual compressive strengths achieved for typical ALDOT girder concrete mixtures & plant procedures; assessing time-dependent deformation characteristics of typical ALDOT concrete mixtures; and establishing the best material property relationships for use in predicting initial camber & camber growth of ALDOT girders.
