InTrans conference room gets makeover

4040 Conference Room with new wall lettering

In an effort to create a more inviting atmosphere for Institute for Transportation (InTrans) staff, students, and its frequent guests, the 4040 Conference Room has recently undergone a makeover.

“Our facilities act as hubs for fostering learning and collaborative idea exchanges aimed at driving meaningful improvements in transportation safety, operations, and efficiencies. We welcome a diverse spectrum of participants, ranging from K-12 students and educators to seasoned industry experts,” said InTrans Director Shauna Hallmark.

InTrans Associate Director Neal Hawkins added, “The fresh transportation-themed graphics we’ve introduced serve as a visual reminder of the many transportation assets that are being planned, built, operated, and continuously maintained every day.”

While InTrans has many conference rooms for use, 4040 is the largest and one of the most frequently used. The number of days varies widely during the year, depending on the season, but it’s estimated to be used two times a week on average. It also hosts week(s)-long classes during the summer months.

The upgrades include the following:

  • Focal wall painted in cardinal red
  • Wall lettering with Iowa State University and InTrans wordmark treatment
  • Large-scale, transportation-related photo boards, with more to come, that provide a striking entrance for visitors and further highlight InTrans’ identity
  • Wall lettering reading “Discover • Educate • Innovate” to speak to InTrans’ mission
  • A new wall clock that adds a pop of color and personality to the room

InTrans’ mission is “saving lives and improving economic vitality through discovery, research innovation, outreach, and the implementation of bold ideas.”

Taken together, these upgrades introduce InTrans immediately for guests and pair fittingly with the many research, outreach, and education activities that are held here.
