Paper on novel image analysis method receives recognition

Kejin Wang, a National Concrete Pavement Technology Center (CP Tech Center) portland cement concrete (PCC) engineer, and recently graduated doctoral student Yogiraj Sargam were one of two runners-up in Giatec Scientific Inc.’s annual Best Paper Award in 2022.

The award recognizes papers published in the previous year that focus on sustainability in construction research and provides an opportunity for civil engineers to expose their research and development to a global audience of industry experts.

Wang and Sargam were recognized for their paper entitled, “Quantifying Dispersion of Nanosilica in Hardened Cement Matrix Using a Novel SEM-EDS and Image Analysis-Based Methodology,” that proposed a new image analysis method that is integrated with scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDS).
